Is exercise the way to handle back pain?
The best manner in which to manage long term tolerable lower back pain is hotly debated. Exercises vary in their aims; however there is a reasonable body of evidence to suggest that overall aerobic fitness programs aimed at increasing general cardiovascular fitness are as effective as more specific exercise regimes for the muscles of the lower back and abdomen. Back pain may be a result of mechanical causes (strains etc), degenerative conditions, infection, inflammation, bone disease, referred pain from other areas of the body and psychogenic pain (originating in the mind rather than the body).
Herniated disc is a problem!
